Gryphon Phoenix aspires to be a basketball coach for professional, collegiate, and high school varsity teams. His dream is to one day be an assistant coach or head coach for the: Seattle Storm WNBA, Seattle NBA Expansion, Sacramento Kings NBA, Toronto Raptors NBA, Toronto Tempo WNBA, Portland WNBA, Portland Trailblazers NBA, NCAA Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, and other pro and college teams.
My name is Gryphon A. Phoenix. My goal is to coach basketball at the pro, university, college, junior college, and varsity high school levels. I have multiple coaching course certifications with the National Federation of High Schools and the American Sport Education Program Coaching Principles certification. In 2023 I became certified and licensed to teach physical education. In 2022 I completed a Master of Arts in Teaching for physical education instruction. In 2021 I completed an Masters of Science for Equity and Diversity in Education. In both of the academic years during 2021-2023, I worked in schools as a paraeducator and as a (paid) High School Head JV-2 Girls’ Basketball Coach. From 2019 to 2021, I worked as a Middle School Basketball Head Coach, Online and Hybrid Education Aide, Instructional Assistant, Playground Supervision, and Cafeteria Supervision. From 2018 to 2019, I worked as a (paid) High School Special Circumstances Instructional Aide, and as a (paid) High School Head JV Boys Basketball Coach. Working with adult-aged students at a university, I performed the role of Teaching Assistant (for a Kinesiology course at Cal Poly Humboldt, formerly Humboldt State University, from March 2018 to May 2018). Back in May of 2018 I graduated from Cal Poly Humboldt, formerly HSU, with an B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in coaching and teaching. I have worked as a paraeducator for many years, as a lead teacher in an after-school program, a basketball coach, volleyball coach, archery coach, and track and field coach. I have volunteered as an assistant physical education instructor at three schools, one for 9th-12th grade, one for 7th-8th grade, and one for K-6th grade. I have successfully completed Level 2 USA Archery Coaching Certification. I participated with the archery team at Cal Poly Humboldt, formerly HSU, for three semesters and served as the archery program vice-president for two school years. I am most at-home coaching, teaching, giving instructions, and working with groups of people. I work extremely well in teams and take my jobs seriously.
I make it a priority to be on-time. I am seeking opportunities to work as a head coach, assistant coach, assistant in basketball operations, and as an instructor. I would cherish all feedback, opportunities for coaching hours, and opportunities for actual coaching situations. Getting observation hours, getting time to work with student-athletes, and assisting at games, matches, and practices, are all things that I really want to do. To work with school districts, private schools, colleges, and universities I would work at multiple levels with students, such as academic support, student-athlete development, teaching assistant, instructional assistant, student-teaching, paid-head-coaching, paid-assistant-coaching, and office assistant work.
I want to achieve my top goals of actively coaching basketball at the professional, collegiate, and high school varsity levels, as soon as possible. Athletic coaching is what I am passionate about. I absolutely love coaching and I would be interested in relocation. I am excited to have you review my resume and materials. Thank you in advance for all your consideration. E-mail is the best way to initially reach me.
Sincerely,
Gryphon A. Phoenix
